Dear Families,
Our elementary school schedule has been adjusted temporarily due to unexpected circumstances in our music department.
Current Situation
Unfortunately, despite our best recruitment efforts, we have been unable to fill the open middle school music teacher position vacated this fall. The Manchester, Mt.Vernon, and Wayne music teacher is also on medical leave. Ms. Simpson, who provided music instruction at Readfield Elementary and the Middle School, is now full-time at the Middle School. These staffing challenges have created a temporary gap in our ability to provide music instruction.
Temporary Schedule Adjustment
Beginning Monday, March 10, through Friday, March 28, all K-5 elementary students at our four schools will have an additional PE class with a qualified substitute teacher instead of their regularly scheduled music class. This temporary measure will ensure that students continue participating in enrichment activities in the absence of their music class.
Program Impacts
Please note that during this period (March 10-28), the following music programs will be temporarily paused:
● Music GT services
● Band/instrumental instruction
● Chorus activities

We are actively working to address this staffing situation. In the coming weeks, you will receive an update regarding our plan moving forward after March 28th.
